Benz Victoria Vis-à-Vis, 1893-1896. Until the beginning of the 1890s the vehicles of Carl Benz have three wheels. From 1893 on, the construction of a functioning double-pivot steering opens the possibility for Benz to build four-wheel vehicles. Benz calls the first model with the new steering “Victoria”.

Driving a Benz Victoria, Theodor von Liebieg completed the first genuine long-distance journey in automotive history from July 16 until 22, 1894. The 939-kilometer journey took von Liebieg from Reichenberg in Bohemia via Mannheim to Gondorf on the River Moselle.
