Theodor von Liebieg undertakes remarkable long-distance journey in his Benz Victoria. The 939-km route starts from Reichenberg in Bohemia and continues via Mannheim to Gondorf, on the Moselle river. After a brief excursion to the French city of Reims, Liebieg sets out on the return journey from Gondorf on 22 August, arriving in Reichenberg nine days later.

The first competitive automobile race takes place as an endurance test between Paris and Rouen. Of the 21 entrants lining up at the start, 15 make it to the finish – including nine vehicles powered by Panhard-Levassor engines produced under Daimler licence and a 3 hp / 2.2 kW Benz Vis-à-Vis.
