First motor-powered omnibus in regular service

    The world's first motor-powered omnibus, commissioned on 19 December 1894 and manufactured by Benz & Co. in Mannheim, goes into service between the small towns of Siegen, Netphen and Deuz. However, adverse weather conditions and technical problems lead to the service being discontinued in December 1895.
