- Description: Mercedes-Benz presents the F 800 Style research vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show. The design study for a five-seater luxury-class saloon combines efficient drive technologies with unrivalled safety, convenience functions and an emotive design idiom. Unique in a large saloon is the newly developed flexible multi-drive platform, which enables the vehicle to be configured with either fuel cell electric drive or as a plug-in hybrid. Also new is the Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID, which is already undergoing testing in everyday use and will go on the market in 2011. Its 15 kW electric motor provides additional power to support the 150 kW / 204 hp of the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine during acceleration, but can also be used for all-electric driving, for example during manoeuvring or in stop-and-go traffic. Its consumption is just 4.1 litres per 100 km (109 g CO2 per km). The G 350 BlueTEC debuts here as a new model in the G-Class (463 series), offering the latest diesel technology together with lower emissions. Also on display is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in its guise as the official Formula One Safety Car, which will go on to take its place at the head of the field on 14 March as the most powerful Safety Car of all time. Mercedes-Benz also introduces a range of elegant and sporty individualisation products at Geneva under the label MercedesSport.
