On 22nd December 1900, the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (Daimler Motor Company) delivers the first 35 hp Mercedes to Emil Jellinek. The innovative car establishes an independent shape of the car for the first time and is considered a masterpiece of technical refinement even today. Characteristic features include the engine, which is set deeply into the frame, the diagonally built-in steering columns and the honeycombed radiator, which are integrated into the front section and which are to become the distinctive feature that typified the brand. The standard drive, with the engine in front and the drive-train over the rear wheels, start a trend which become standard.
