New designations for all passenger car models

  • Date
    10 May 1993
  • Description
With the start of sales of the C-Class, the model designations of all Mercedes-Benz passenger car models change. A letter or a combination of letters – such as C or SL – before the three-digit number indicates the class that the vehicle belongs to, and any subsequent letters, e.g. D, E, T, S, which hitherto served as identification of the engine and body variant, are discontinued.
