- Description:
Mercedes-Benz presents two concept cars to the publicat the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan/USA. The "Vision GL 420 BLUETEC" meets the stringent American BIN 5 emission standard and uses only 9.8 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, while delivering output of 216 kW / 290 hp. The exciting Concept Ocean Drive convertible study based on the S 600 is an open four-door car in the tradition of the great luxury convertibles from Mercedes-Benz. For the centenary of the most important American auto show, Mercedes-Benz demonstrates its all-wheel drive competence in the form of the new S 320 CDI 4MATIC and a comprehensive range of all-wheel-drive cars – one hundred years after completion of the so-called Dernburg car. In this all-wheel-drive Daimler automobile constructed in 1907, permanent secretary Bernhard Dernburg covered many kilometres from 1908 onwards in what was then German South West Africa. The smart fortwo, which will be offered for sale in the USA from 2008, celebrates its US premiere in Detroit.
