Daimler-Benz fuel-cell-powered vehicle called NECAR 1 (New Electric Car). based on the Mercedes-Benz 100, from 1994.
The Mercedes-Benz research vehicle NECAR 1 is rather a lab on wheels than a van for every day use. The hydrogen system for the generation of electric current on board weighs 800 kilograms and uses the vehicle’s entire storage capacity with the electronic control device, compressor, cooling system and hydrogen tank.
