Five world premieres at the IAA

Mercedes-Benz celebrated five world premieres at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main. The second generation of the B-Class showed itself to be especially agile and efficient thanks to new drivetrains and power transmission. Comfortable, spacious and with exemplary safety features, the Sports Tourer significantly raised the bar in its segment. The new M-Class showed that even a high-end SUV model series can have great fuel-saving potential – in this case an average of 25% compared to the preceding model series. The top performer was the ML 250 BlueTEC 4MATIC, which was content with an NEDC consumption of 6 litres per 100 km while still offering the excitement typical of an M-Class. The roadster version of the SLS AMG super sports car also had its first public outing at the IAA show. The combination of an aluminium spaceframe, AMG 6.2-litre V8 front-mid engine with a peak output of 420 kW / 571 hp, 7-speed dual-clutch transmission in a transaxle arrangement and a sport suspension with aluminium axle components ensured exemplary vehicle dynamics. Another highlight of the IAA was the "F 125!". This research vehicle demonstrated what future emission-free personal mobility in the luxury segment might look like. The SLK Roadster with a diesel engine also celebrated its premiere. The 150 kW / 204 hp four-cylinder engine in the SLK 250 CDI made the Vario roof two-seater a decidedly efficient sports car. The same applied to the SLK 55 AMG, which also had its debut. In the most powerful SLK of all time, its newly developed AMG 5.5-litre V8 engine with 310 kW / 422 hp boasted a 30% reduction in fuel consumption compared to its predecessor.
