In the ninth and penultimate DTM race at Le Mans, Bernd Schneider takes fifth place to secure the champion's title after falling back to last place in a scramble at the start. For Schneider this is the fifth title after 1995, 2000, 2001 and 2003. In Le Mans, Bruno Spengler wins ahead Mika Hakkinen, both driving an AMG-Mercedes C-Class. Spengler is runner-up at season's end.
