1933

  • 11 - 23 February 1933
  • Launch of the new 200 (W 21), 290 (W 18) and 380 (W 22) car models at the International Automobile and Motorcycle Show in Berlin. The 380 model marks the start of the tradition of sporty and elegant cars with eight-cylinder supercharged engines, which is later continued by the world-famous successor models 500 K and 540 K. The 380 features independent front suspension using two parallel wishbones and coil springs – a world first which is to spread throughout the automotive world. Meanwhile, the commercial vehicle model range is extended by the Lo 3500 chassis for 3.5-tonne trucks and buses and the semitrailer tractors LZ 6000 and LZ 8000.
