  • The Genshagen plant takes up large-scale production of the DB 605 V12 aeroengine. This more powerful derivative of the DB 601 has a displacement of 35.7 litres. More than 40,000 units make it the most widely built Mercedes-Benz aeroengine of the Second World War.

  • The M 148 searchlight engine goes into production at the Untertürkheim plant. Originally developed for future car models, the V12 has a displacement of 6 litres and delivers 105 hp / 77 kW as a searchlight engine. More than 700 units are produced by mid-1943. Additionally, more than 2,600 units of the improved M 173 with 6.5 litres displacement and 125 hp / 92 kW are built.

  • The first units of the L 1500 A all-wheel-drive light truck are completed in Untertürkheim. In July, production of the rear-wheel-drive L 1500 S begins. Both models are fitted with a 2.6-litre carburettor engine. The L 1500 A is built mainly as a personnel carrier for the German military, while the L 1500 S serves as a platform truck and light crew fire-fighting vehicle.   • The Annual Shareholders' Meeting of Daimler-Benz AG authorises the Board of Management to increase share capital by up to 25 million Reichsmarks with the consent of the Supervisory Board by issuing new common shares.

  • The Reich Ministry of Aviation assigns the management of the Flugmotorenwerke Ostmark GmbH aeroengine company with factories in Vienna, Brno and Maribor, set up in January, to Daimler-Benz AG. In June 1943 managerial responsibility is transferred to Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG.
