  • Daimler-Benz founds Mercedes-Benz United Kingdom Ltd. in Brentford, bringing sales activities in Britain back under the company's control, and acquires a stake in the Zurich-based company MERFAG AG – which holds the sales rights for Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses in Switzerland – through its Swiss subsidiary Daimler-Benz Holding AG.

  • Daimler-Benz Board of Management member Prof. Hans Scherenberg accepts the "1974 Car of the Year" award on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show. An international jury made up of 45 trade journalists had in January awarded the coveted prize to the car models 450 SE and 450 SEL ( 116 series), as well as the 450 SL and 450 SLC (107 series).

  • Daimler-Benz Board of Management member Heinz Schmidt presents the organising committee of the Football World Cup with a total of 72 Mercedes-Benz coaches at a press conference in Frankfurt am Main. For the duration of the World Cup, each of the 16 teams competing in the tournament will enjoy the services of a yellow O 302 luxury coach decorated in the teams’ respective national colours.

  • Daimler-Benz presents the latest version of the experimental safety vehicle, the ESF 24, at the Fifth International ESV Conference taking place in London. This marks the completion of the ESV programme after more than three years of intensive development work.

  • Mercedes-Benz presents three new passenger car models to the international press in Frankfurt am Main and Hockenheim. The 59 kW / 80 hp, five-cylinder 3-litre OM 617 engine of the 240 D 3.0 (115 series) makes this not only the world's most powerful diesel-engined passenger car, but also the world's first five-cylinder series-produced model. The new 280 SL and 280 SLC (107 series) entry-level sports car variants are presented at the same time.

  • Two new high-output tractors have their premiere at the DLG agricultural show in Frankfurt am Main: the Unimog U 120 (425 series), series production of which begins in January 1976, and the MB-trac 95/105 prototype, which goes into series production in July 1976 as the MB-trac 1000 (442 series).
