- Description: Mercedes-Benz launches the new version of the CLS (C 218 series) at the Motor Show in Paris. This stunning four-door coupé is the first car in the world to feature an optional combination of LED High Performance headlamps and the Intelligent Light System. The A-Class E-CELL also celebrates its world premiere at the show: after the B-Class F-CELL, this is the second electric car built under series-production conditions that Mercedes-Benz will be putting on the road. The S-Class range (221 series) is extended by the addition of four new BlueEFFICIENCY models with particularly eco-friendly engines: the S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, the first S-Class with four-cylinder engine, delivers a combined NEDC fuel economy of just 5.7 litres per 100 km and will come onto the market in early 2011. Already available at Mercedes-Benz sales outlets is the S 350 BlueTEC, one of the world’s cleanest diesel models thanks to AdBlue emission control. Autumn sees the debut of the petrol models S 350 BlueEFFICIENCY and S 500 BlueEFFICIENCY, which feature the new BlueDIRECT engines. The modified CL-Class (C 216 series) and the new generation of the Viano (639 series) mark their motor show premiere in Paris, just as the new generation of the smart fortwo (451 series). Moreover, smart shows its ebike as well as the all-electric escooter, yet another solution for intelligent urban mobility.
