  • Description

Three production E 320 CDI saloons fitted with the new Mercedes-Benz 165 kW / 224 hp OM 642 V6 CDI diesel engine finish a 30-day record-breaking run at the high-speed circuit in Laredo, Texas/USA. They set world records over distances of 100,000 kilometres, 50,000 miles and 100,000 miles, averaging speeds of over 224 km/h. Further class records for diesel cars complete the impressive list. Despite the extreme stress and strain during the 30-day run, the maintenance-free particulate filter operates without efficiency losses over the entire distance – renewed proof of the reliability and longevity of this emission control technology.

Mercedes-Benz E 320 CDI Saloon, model series 211, April 2005. With the V6 diesel engine OM 642 DE 30 LA with particulate filter and 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission, three world records were achieved on the high-speed track in Laredo, Texas/USA. 3 standard vehicles covered distances of 100,000 km and 50,000 and 100,000 miles in 30 days without problems. The only changes: by agreement with the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), a roll-over bar was installed in the interior and colour distinctions were made with decals and on the fog lights and exterior mirrors.
