  • Description

After more than 31,000 units in 13 years, the second generation of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro was presented to the public in Mannheim. The new regular service bus, which was available in 28 model variants and vehicle lengths from 10.5 to 19.5 metres, excelled with further improved operating economy, even greater passenger comfort and an unrivalled level of safety. The engines available for the Citaro were two modern six-cylinder BlueTec diesels configured for the Euro 5 emission standard or optionally the EEV standard, in output classes between 210 kW / 286 hp and 260 kW / 354 hp. The Citaro was the world's first city bus to be optionally available with the Electronic Stability Program ESP, which significantly enhanced operating safety even further.
