  • Mercedes-Benz presents two concept cars to the publicat the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan/USA. The "Vision GL 420 BLUETEC" meets the stringent American BIN 5 emission standard and uses only 9.8 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, while delivering output of 216 kW / 290 hp. The exciting Concept Ocean Drive convertible study based on the S 600 is an open four-door car in the tradition of the great luxury convertibles from Mercedes-Benz. For the centenary of the most important American auto show, Mercedes-Benz demonstrates its all-wheel drive competence in the form of the new S 320 CDI 4MATIC and a comprehensive range of all-wheel-drive cars – one hundred years after completion of the so-called Dernburg car. In this all-wheel-drive Daimler automobile constructed in 1907, permanent secretary Bernhard Dernburg covered many kilometres from 1908 onwards in what was then German South West Africa.   • At the 85th Brussels Motor Show, DaimlerChrysler receives various awards, including the prize in the category "Future Auto" for the Mercedes-Benz BLUETEC diesel engines. In the category "Safety" the Mercedes-Benz Active Brake Assist and Mercedes-Benz Actros Safety Truck are presented with the Safety Award.

  • The new 204-series C-Class saloons celebrate their world premiere at Mercedes-Benz World in Stuttgart. Numerous innovations are included in the standard equipment. The new C-Class is the first automobile in this market segment, and the second Mercedes-Benz model series since the S-Class, to be awarded the exacting TUV environmental certificate. It proves Mercedes-Benz’s sustained commitment to environment-friendly product development.

  • In Munich, the ADAC awards two of its coveted "Yellow Angels" to Mercedes-Benz. In the "Brand" category the prize is for Mercedes-Benz's top ranking in the AutomarxX brand index. In the "Innovation" category the honours go to Active Brake Assist (ABA), with which Mercedes-Benz has been defining a new safety standard for trucks since September 2006.

  • Mercedes-Benz celebrates a triple premiere at the Geneva Motor Show with the new 204 series C-Class. In addition to the premieres of the production model and racing version for the 2007 DTM season, the "Vision C 220 BLUETEC" study also make its debut. It shows how the EURO 6 emission standard applicable from 2015 can be met and is a further step in the BLUETEC offensive. Two powerful and luxurious variants of the new smart fortwo also have their premiere: the smart fortwo BRABUS and the smart fortwo BRABUS Xclusive, both offered as coupé and convertible versions.

  • The DaimlerChrysler plant in Ladson outside Charleston in the state of South Carolina officially begins production of the Sprinter for the American market, where the successful van series will be sold under the Freightliner and Dodge labels. The plant has a production capacity of 32,000 vehicles and relieves the strain on the Gaffney assembly plant in South Carolina/USA, where the Sprinter has been assembled since 2001.

  • At the International Auto Show in New York (NYIAS), Mercedes-Benz receives the 2007 "World Green Car" award for the E 320 BLUETEC. With the award the jury recognises both the current diesel involvement in the US market and the forward-looking BLUETEC system. The high-performance CL 65 AMG and CLK 63 AMG Black Series also have their world premiere. To mark its 40th anniversary the high-performance AMG brand presents the CL 65 AMG "40th Anniversary", a limited edition of 40 units with exclusive ALU-BEAM paintwork and exclusive appointments.

The Board members from the Chrysler Group leave the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler AG, which is therefore reduced to six members.
