    Wilhelm Maybach’s first four-cylinder engine is dispatched on its way to New York. The 6-litre power unit weighs 451 kg and produces 12.3 hp / 9 kW at 390 rpm. This is followed ten days later by the delivery of a 2.4-litre variant developed at the same time, which tips the scales at 153 kg and generates 5.9 hp / 4.3 kW at 620 rpm. Both units are designed for use in boats.
