New brake system detects imminent rear-end collisions

With the PRE-SAFE Brake Mercedes-Benz presents another seminal innovation which opens up a new dimension of vehicle safety. The system detects an impending rear-end collision and carries out automatic partial braking. This can significantly reduce the severity of the accident, but still gives the driver the chance to avoid impact. The PRE-SAFE Brake is available in the S-Class (221 series) and the new CL Coupé (C 216 series) starting in September.
