    At the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, Hans Heyer and Clemens Schickentanz win their class in a 300 SEL 6.8 AMG and take second place overall. Their racing touring car, affectionately dubbed the "red boar" because of its red paintwork and aggressive look, was built by the firm AMG, set up by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher in 1967.
