Development work of a fuel cell unit for electric vehicles begins

    On the basis of a draft scheme put forward by Group company Dornier GmbH in Friedrichshafen, Daimler-Benz begins development work on a fuel cell unit that can be used as the drive system for an electric vehicle. Just three years later, Daimler-Benz is able to present its first milestone with this new drive technology in the form of the NECAR (New Electric Car) research vehicle.
