At the meeting of the international UNESCO "Memory of the World" committee in Manchester/Great Britain, the patent specification No. 37435 of Carl Benz for his "Vehicle with gas engine operation" was entered in the register as a Memory of the World document. Carl Benz submitted his patent application for the motor car to the Imperial Patent Office in Berlin on 29 January 1886. For 125 years this has been accepted as the birth date of the car, and it has permanently changed and shaped personal mobility to this day.
