Daimler and Evonik produce lithium-ion batteries at Kamenz, Saxony

Daimler and Evonik launch the next stage of their strategic alliance - focused on electrification of the car - with an announcement concerning location: Deutsche Accumotive GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between Daimler AG and Evonik Industries AG, will produce battery systems on the basis of lithium-ion technology at Kamenz, in the Saxony region of Germany. Construction of the new production facility is due to commence in autumn 2009.
