World premiere of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL hybrid

The new Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL-Hybrid celebrates its world premiere at the UITP Congress in Vienna, the world congress for public transport operators. The fuel cell hybrid bus, developed as part of the company's global "Shaping Future Transportation" initiative, combines two hydrogen-fed fuel cell stacks with powerful lithium-ion batteries, allowing the vehicle to be driven several kilometres on battery power alone. A fleet test with a small series of 10 vehicles will begin in 2010.
