Diesel truck debuts in Amsterdam

    The Amsterdam Commercial Vehicle Show witnesses the debut of the world's first series-produced diesel-powered truck – a Benz 5-tonne vehicle, which is equipped with the OB 2 pre-chamber diesel engine and completed its first test run in September 1923.
Benz Gaggenau 5 K 3
The world's first operational, usable diesel-powered truck was built in 1923. The Benz Gaggenau 5 K 3 five-tonner with OB 2 four-cylinder diesel engine developing 45/50 hp at 1,000 rpm, shown in the picture, was in service for more than ten years.
