Munich-born Max von Arco-Zinneberg drove Mercedes-Benz cars as a privateer and achieved remarkable successes between 1929 and 1931, such as first places at the Semmering Hill Climb in 1929, the Grand Prix of Nations at the Nürburgring in the same year together with August Momberger, and the kilometre race in Geneva in 1930. In May 1937, he had a fatal accident during a flight over Aspern airfield near Vienna.
