Born in Frome, Somerset, this Briton started karting at the age of eight and secured several British championships in the category, as well as the 1997 European Championship, among others. When he switched to British Formula Ford, he won the national championship title at the first attempt in 1998.
After a detour into Formula 3, Button's Formula 1 career began in 2000 with Team Williams. His further path led via Benetton, B.A.R. and Honda finally to Brawn GP in the 2009 season.
In his very first year, he won the World Drivers' Championship in the BGP 001, which was powered by a Mercedes-Benz engine. From 2010 to 2017, Button competed for McLaren-Mercedes and McLaren-Honda in Formula 1, culminating in a second place finish in the drivers' championship in the 2011 season.
