Under the contract, Mercedes-Benz AG, which holds a 25 % share in both companies, takes over Treuhandanstalt's 75 % share with effect from 1 January 1994.

In "e-mobility Italy" more than 100 electric automobiles of the smart and Mercedes-Benz brands are to be tested in everyday operation in 2010 in Rome, Milan and Pisa. Enel will make more than 400 charging stations available in the three Italian cities.

The OM 312 A power unit develops 115 hp / 85 kW, 25 hp / 18 kW more than the naturally aspirated variant on which it is based.

Daimler takes a 10 % stake in Kamaz from Troika Dialog and gets a seat on the Supervisory Board and extensive rights as a minority shareholder.

Despite alternatives in France, Britain and the Czech Republic being considered up to the very end, the decision for Rastatt was made after intense negotiations with the Central Works Council and centered on a cost differential and savings of DM 200 million.

  • Daimler AG and Evonik Industries AG, Essen, form a strategic alliance to develop and manufacture lithium-ion batteries. In this context, Daimler takes over 49.9 % of Li-Tec Vermögensverwaltung GmbH, a member of the Evonik Group. Moreover, the formation of an additional joint venture is planned. It will devote itself to the development and production of batteries and battery systems for automotive applications.

The supermarket chain tests the semitrailer tractor with the low-emission, economical natural gas drive in combination with an especially environment-friendly refrigerator semitrailer in daily delivery work.

  • Gottlieb Daimler takes out patents to protect first the "gas engine with hot tube ignition" and, a week later, the "regulation of engine speed by exhaust valve control". The two patents, registered on 4 and 27 August respectively under German patent nos. DRP 28 022 and DRP 28 243, provide the basis for the world’s first high-speed combustion engine.

  • Daimler AG and PURI tech GmbH & Co. KG sign a cooperation agreement covering the retrofitting of diesel particulate filters to Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles. From January 2009 PURI tech will supply filter retrofit kits that reduce emissions of soot particles by more than 99 %. These enable Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles in emission categories Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3 to improve their label ratings for low emission zones, as well as their classification for motorway toll charges.

Passenger car production ceases in 1934. Thereafter, production is restricted to military and rail vehicles as well as bicycles and motorcycles.
