Frankfurt: the Mercedes-Benz 600 debuts

  • Date
    12 - 22 September 1963
  • Description
Mercedes-Benz unveils a new prestige car at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt – the 600 Grand Mercedes (W 100). This top-of-the-line model, fitted as standard with numerous technical highlights, is available either as a 5/6-seater standard saloon or a 7/8-seat Pullman. Daimler-Benz AG also uses the occasion to present the LP 1620 truck series. The cab-over-engine (COE) trucks of the new generation of heavy-duty commercial vehicles are distinguished by an underfloor engine and the completely new "cubic" driver's cab. Another new product is the L 2220, the first heavy three-axle truck from Mercedes-Benz since the start of post-war production.
