    DaimlerChrysler unveils two fuel cell powered vehicles equipped for everyday operation in the presence of German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in Berlin. Developed on the basis of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the NECAR 5 sees the methanol reformer located for the first time in the underfloor section of the car. The second vehicle, a Jeep Commander 2, is fitted with the same propulsion system.
