    The first units of the L 1500 A all-wheel-drive light truck are completed in Untertürkheim. In July, production of the rear-wheel-drive L 1500 S begins. Both models are fitted with a 2.6-litre carburettor engine. The L 1500 A is built mainly as a personnel carrier for the German military, while the L 1500 S serves as a platform truck and light crew fire-fighting vehicle.
