A 20 hp steam car was the first to reach the finishing line, but was placed second by the jury as it did not comply with the competition requirements. The Peugeot and Panhard-Levassor automobiles arrived within minutes of each other. All of them were powered by 3.5 hp engines, manufactured under Daimler licence by Panhard-Levassor.
