The son of Benz's Milan representative, Ricordi joined Benz & Cie. as a trainee in 1903 and immediately took part in motorsport competitions. In the same year, he achieved two successes, at the Mannheim - Baden-Baden drive and at the International Track Race in Frankfurt/Main. The Italian remained active in Mannheim until 1906 and then returned to his homeland.
