After three years on the kart, Mücke, from Berlin, entered Formula BMW ADAC, where he won the title in 1998 and the runner-up title in the German Formula 3 Championship three years later. From 1999 onwards, he benefitted from sponsorship by Mercedes-Benz.

In the 2002 season, he started for Team Rosberg in the German Touring Car Masters, but remained without points in his AMG-Mercedes CLK-DTM. Under the same conditions, this result did not change in the following season.

The year 2004, now under contract with Persson Motorsport, showed some upward trend with two championship points, which continued into the 2005 season when Mücke joined his father's team, Mücke Motorsport, and scored three points in the drivers' championship.

Things clearly progressed in 2006, when he attracted attention for Mücke Motorsport with a fourth-place finish at the DTM race at the Norisring and took 12th place in the final championship standings with seven points.

In 2007, Mücke nevertheless sought new perspectives and successfully switched to international GT and endurance racing. He raced in the FIA GT Series, competed in an LMP2 car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and competed in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), among others.

At the start of the 2008 season, he signed a contract as a works driver with Aston Martin Racing and competed in various racing series with different cars from this brand over the following years. As of 2016, he was active in the FIA World Endurance Championship for the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team.
