Daimler motor carriage - For installing the Daimler single-cylinder engine into the carriage, an appropriate power transfer is required. Hence, the engine is connected to a two-speed gearwheel transmission via a friction clutch, the driven gearwheels of which can be displaced on their axle. Leather discs clamped between small pinions are substitutes for a differential. The corresponding toothed rings are mounted on the inner side of the rear wheels.
