E 320 CDI Saloon - W 211, world record car, Laredo - Mercedes-Benz E 320 CDI Saloon, model series 211, April 2005. With the V6 diesel engine OM 642 DE 30 LA with particulate filter and 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission, three world records were achieved on the high-speed track in Laredo, Texas/USA. 3 standard vehicles covered distances of 100,000 km and 50,000 and 100,000 miles in 30 days without problems. The only changes: by agreement with the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), a roll-over bar was installed in the interior and colour distinctions were made with decals and on the fog lights and exterior mirrors.
