Typ ML 320 - The USA and Canada are the first markets to enjoy the M-Class, namely the ML 320 (160 kW/218 hp). In March 1998 the first vehicles arrive in Europe, which additionally receives the ML 230 (110 kW/150 hp). As another variant the ML 430 with an eight-cylinder petrol engine (199 kW/270 hp) follows in 1998, initially again for North America. In October 1998 the power ratio between the front and rear axles is changed to 48:52 for more agile cornering on hardtop roads.
