Model series 406

In production from 1963, the 406 series entered a new output category and was considerably larger, more modern and had more than twice the engine output of previous Unimog model series. The 406 series was available with either an open or enclosed cab, and as a traction head. It remained in production until 1989, with a total production of 37,069 units in 12 model variants.

The traction measuring trailer has a total weight of 16 t, can measure hitch hook forces between zero and ten tonnes and can record six items of status data. The braking power is dissipated via air-cooled resistances and a 24-way selectable gear ratio.
The measuring speed ranges from 0.4 - 80 km/h.
