The ML 55 AMG with its 255 kW/347 hp performance from a 5.5 litre V8 engine really suits the tastes of the North American customer. The powerful four-wheel drive spoils motorists with plenty of performance, pleasant driving feel and comprehensive series equipment. In addition to the typical AMG look, amongst other things two "power domes" in the engine bonnet and two chrome-plated exhaust tailpipes belong to the distinctive features which make the car so recognisable. An additional tank adds 25 litres to the fuel volume. The ML 55 AMG is initially exclusively available with left-hand-drive. Because of the modified chassis balance there is less ground clearance than usual for the M-Class, and the overhang angle is also reduced – but this is no doubt less important for this vehicle, which is above all designed for a superior driving feel on asphalt roads.
