This British driver from Camberley in the south of England, first got involved in motorsport in 1993. Via the junior formulae First, Vauxhall and Renault, in which he finished second in the final standings in 1996 and thus received the coveted McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award,  he made the leap to the British Formula 3 Championship. Although things were not going well for Turner here, he got his first testing opportunities with various Formula 1 teams.

in 1999, he wanted to compete in the Italian Formula 3000 championship, but opted for a contract as a test driver with McLaren-Mercedes. From the 2000 season onwards, he competed in parallel for Team Rosberg in the German Touring Car Masters, driving an AMG-Mercedes CLK-DTM. He finished the first year in 14th place in the drivers' rankings. The following year, still with Team Rosberg, he was unable to improve and lost his ticket to the championship after finishing 15th overall.

After his engagement with McLaren-Mercedes also came to an end in the same year, Turner pointed himself in a different direction. From 2003 onwards, he successfully entered GT racing and in 2005 received a works contract with Aston Martin, where he also got starts in an LMP1 car in the meantime. In 2006, he also competed for SEAT in the British Touring Car Championship. Turner is still active for Aston Martin Racing and is now one of the most established drivers in international GT racing.
