Daimler takes a stake in Tesla

Daimler AG announces plans at a press conference in Stuttgart to take a stake of almost 10 % in Tesla Motors Inc. This investment marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between the inventor of the automobile and one of the newest arrivals to the automotive industry. Tesla is the only manufacturer to sell a battery-powered vehicle in North America and Europe that is designed specifically for operation over long distances.
